Lesson Learned

You know how on the back of a spray paint can it says not to use it if the temperature is below 50 degrees? Well, my husband won’t allow me to spray paint in the house or garage (since I’m pregnant), so I just did some spray painting outside. It’s about 32 degrees. This is what happened:

I’m spray painting jar lids for my craft room so I can put my cute stuff out all prettily.

Keep Herbs Fresh Longer

I love fresh herbs. Who doesn’t? But since I live by myself, I rarely cook enough to use up the herbs before they go bad. To make them last a little longer is very simple – just treat them like flowers. Trim the ends and put them in water. You can keep them on the countertop or, if you have a cat who loves to eat anything with even the smallest resemblance to lettuce like I do, you can keep them in the fridge.

Trim the stems. This is parsley.

Peanut won’t stay away! All she wants to do is eat herbs!

How to Keep Avocado Fresh

Here is a quick tip I discovered to keep your cut avocados from turning brown on the edges. Wrap them in plastic wrap! Make sure you press it up against the green avocado inside. Avocado turns brown when it oxidizes, or comes in contact with the air for too long. Pressing plastic wrap up against the avocado will keep the air out. Also try to keep the seed in as long as you can.

Slight Fix for Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Tip of the Day

Ever get stuck with beer that you really do not enjoy the taste of? I do. This is because I sometimes choose my beer based on how pretty the bottlecaps are. I love making bottlecap crafts and right now I am making Christmas ornaments. About 20 minutes ago I bought Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Then I tried it and groooossssss lots of hops. Very bitter. I don’t like. There was no way I was going to drink a whole 6 pack with this taste. So I tried adding lime, and guess what, it is good {Well… it’s better at least}.

The lime doesn’t totally get rid of the bitterness but it does give you another flavor to focus on so you won’t notice it as much. This might seem obvious but I’ve tried adding lime in other beer that I don’t like and it doesn’t always make it better. Committed beer drinkers will never read my blog again.

But really, how perfect are these caps for Christmas ornaments!
