So, I’ve had my gallery wall layout picked for OVER a YEAR now. This picture was taken right before Christmas 2015 😀
Now, January 2017, I am ready to complete my gallery wall. LOL.
Here is the LAYOUT:
Here is how it was for … about a year:
As i said in my last post, hubby and i BOUGHT OUR FIRST HOUSE!! After putting in offers for four other properties and then losing them for one reason or another, we finally got one! It seemed like it was never going to happen. This house was not exactly our first choice – the backyard has a steep hill and the living room is four steps down from the rest of the house because it used to be a garage some 30-50 years ago. The house was built in 1942 and every single room needed updating. But we saw that part as a good thing because we wanted a fixer upper that we can eventually make some cold hard cash on once we sell. Here are some before pictures.
Front of the house. Those brown interior shutters are gone now
Living room and front door #1
Front door is on the left edge. Looking into kitchen
So much wood!!
Who doesn’t want a booth?
The beautiful booth and glass brick window
Hallway – this is gone now
Bedroom #1 – Extra bedroom
Main bathroom – Beautiful pink
Bedroom #2 – Ryker’s room. It used to be TINY!
Our bedroom. You can jut see out of bedroom doorway #2 that goes into the living room. Also our bathroom.
And of course, the bathroom has the beautiful wall paper to match.
(Note: All pics are taken with my terrible, old cell phone. SORRY!!)
My mom mailed me these wall hanging decorations for my birthday
I love beach themed decorations but these remind me of something you might see at a hotel or a rental cottage. Cute but I wouldn’t pic them out myself. So I painted them!
I used rustoleum matte white spray paint and primer 2 in 1. Super easy.
Please don’t mind my fiance’s mouth guard or my gross legs!
And then I finally got around to hanging them in the bathroom.
And here are a couple other bathroom views.
I love the turtles!
I have some big news! My fiancé is (almost for sure) getting up a job up in the DC area! Our dreams are coming true! LOL. I am just so excited because after about 3 and a half years of spending almost all of our money on plane tickets to see each other, we are finally going to be able to start our life together. AND now we don’t have to constantly worry in the back of our mind that we might not be together even after we are married. How do things always end up working out? I really honestly wonder!
So, the sad part is that I don’t get to move into that cute house that I posted all the pics about and shared allll my decorating ideas. The good part is that my fiancé will be moving in with ME into my apartment. That means I have a million decorating and organizing things I need to do! SOOO excited! I obviously love decorating and now I have a reason to spruce up my house.
My apartment is roughly 523 square feet. It is a studio with a balcony, full size (and nice!) kitchen, pretty decent sized bathroom, and awesome closet space. There is a walk-in closet, a linen closet with shelves, a huge coat closet (half of it is my craft closet), and a kitchen pantry. The bathroom has more than enough storage space for just me (well, the whole apartment does actually), the kitchen has tons of shelves, and I have three bookcases as well.
The first thing I need to do is organize all my stuff.
I will be posting one-by-one before and after pictures of each that I take on.
Today I will share the exterior of my future house and our plans to spruce it up a bit.
Front of house
Here is the front view. Notice the flowers my fiancé bought to plant! He is so sweet. I never knew he
cared about plants and gardening until he started working on the flower beds. I’m not sure yet what
to do to the front of the house besides the flowers that Steven is going to plant. The wood around the
flowerbeds could use a fresh coat of paint or they could even be replaced with some fresh, short, cute,
white fencing. Maybe we can line the side of the driveway and the walkway with that wood. Of course
we will have to get a cute welcome mat. Maybe some solar lights. I need to do research on easy ways to
spruce up the front of a house.
Side of house
Not so nice, but let’s be honest: $350 a month for three bedrooms has to have flaws
somewhere. We’ll have to look into power washing or repainting. This will be a good job for Steven
And last but not least, my favorite part of the entire house! The cutest cutest cute backyard. The little
gate and cement wall is so Secret Garden-y to me! The laundry room door is behind whatever that thing
is next to the wood fence. It is not under the roof overhang. Steven is planning on building an in-ground
fire pit, which I am so happy about! I don’t know if we’ll build a pavilion like the neighbors have, but I
do know that we will have a vegetable garden next to one of the walls somewhere. I want to put white
lights around that tree in the corner. I also want to get a cute string of lights, like maybe fruit lights or
margarita glasses or whatever I can find for a good deal. I have a feeling this is going to be an area where
we do the major things first – firepit, lights, garden, mow – and then gradually add more and more.
Check back for picture of the front flower beds once Steven has planted the flowers. You must know,
however, that Steven is not a landscaper by any means. I was so surprised that he bought all those
plants and I am going to be very happy with whatever he does.
